New "Metal Gear" Title Could be "Snake Eater" Sequel

9:00 PM EST came and went and the mysterious countdown teasing a possible new "Metal Gear Solid" title from Kojima Productions expired to yield:

However, this new countdown is slated to end at 6:00 PM on Sunday May 31st, just days before E3 and possibly resulting in the big announcement at Konami's press conference.

Also, after a lightning flash there is a picture of what appears to be Solid Snake - or perhaps Big Boss. The Letter "R" is now appearing as well.

This could suggest another game in the series recounting the escapades of Big Boss in a sequel to "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater."

More word will arise when surely another teaser will arrive on May 31st.

New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Trailer

Developing on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's official website is a new trailer for the acclaimed series:


"Modern Warfare 2" will be a direct sequel to the 2007 hit. However, there isn't much by way of gameplay footage.

We might see more of a glimpse of the shooter when VGF takes you "virtually there" at E3 '09 next week.

Metal Gear Solid 5 on the Horizon?

Sorry for not being up-to-date lately, I recently graduated from Central Michigan University and am now in the job hunt.

Nevertheless, news broke Thursday as Hideo Kojima's teaser site prompting a "new metal gear" shifted to a countdown.

As the numbers read according to gamespot.com, the timer ends at 9:00 PM EST on Tuesday May 26, within a week of the Electronic Entertainment Expo where Konami is likely to make an official announcement.

No official word as to what the stormy prairie backdrop and flashing letters mean - aside from speculation at gamespot.com.

Nevertheless, keep a watchful eye on the site and a possible annoucement come Tuesday.

Also, Video Game Freedom will be your one-stop-shop at E3 2009 nears beginning June 9th. Look for up-to-the-minute updates on all the happenings at E3 as VGF takes you "Virtually There."

New Possibilities for the Video Game Industry by Hacking the Wii Remote

Inventor Johnny Lee demonstrates alternative uses of the Nintendo Wii remote.

First, she shows how the Wii remote can be used as a digital whiteboard using a projector.

Next he demonstrates how it can used for a touch screen with a projector.

Finally - and most importantly for game developers - he shows how the Wii remote can be used to track movements of a players head creating a 3D effect. According to Lee, this technology is going to be utilized as an "easter egg" in an upcoming game for EA.

If this could be used in conjunction with games for the Wii or perhaps future iterations of the Wii, Nintendo's gimmick may very well turn into something with geniun appeal to hardcore and casual gamers alike.
