In an embarrassing display, the Playstation 3 firmware update version 2.40 was removed from the Playstation Network just hours after its launch yesterday.
Gamespot reported that Sony had to remove the update, which is supposed to finally bring gamers in-game XMB and trophy accomplishments, after various calls and complaints that the update had caused instability when loading games.
Sony has yet to publically address the issue and reports came from all three versions of the console.
This has to be embarssing for Sony and it has to frustrate gamers.
Nevertheless, if you did download the update, you should probably log onto Sony's Playstation 3 update site and redownload the version 2.36 update by visiting their download page or by clicking the direct link HERE.
From there you will want to place the file in a folder called UPDATE which should be within another folder called PS3 and put that on a flashdrive to insert in your Playstation 3.
I was unable to update my system last night and now I know why. Be sure to check back when I am finally able to download Version 2.40 when it is rereleased.
